Beulah Kline: Secretary, Chapter 1418 of AARP
February 9, 2005
Chapter 1418 of American Association Retired Persons commends the women of the VFW Auxiliary for the many things they do for our community.
Many enjoy the monthly dinners that they put on for seniors.
They also loan, free of charge, hospital equipment and “sick room” needs for those who care for someone in their homes.
They have a scholarship fund and help with rent, utilities, medical and dental in some cases.
There is a Christmas party for children and a yearly dinner for law enforcement personnel. The group has a Veterans Day dinner for veterans and their families, funeral dinners or lunches.
They also donate to many other local charities — Toys for Kids, Interfaith Food Bank, Salvation Army, Independent Life Center, Huck Finn Day, Sweet Adelines, Children’s Choir and the Senior Bus. This group sponsors three Lifeline phones through the hospital.
