Bank of Colorado hires new president

Harmon has been with the Bank of Colorado family of banks since 1999. He has extensive community bank experience in management, operations, data processing and consumer, commercial and real estate lending. Prior to working with Bank of Colorado, Harmon gained experience with American General Finance in Farmington, N.M. and Pine River Valley Bank in Bayfield.

“I think the biggest challenge facing community banks is the growing competition with banking services on the Internet,” Harmon said. “Although, Bank of Colorado does have the highest number of customers who conduct Internet transactions of all banks in Colorado.” According to Harmon, some companies offer Internet banking services “with no brick and mortar foundation” but there are strict regulations governing on-line banking.

“My goal in my new position here is to continue to be a community-oriented bank,” Harmon said.

A Colorado native, Harmon and his family moved to Craig from Bayfield in January 2000. He is currently active with Craig Youth Soccer and is a charter member of LEAD Bankers, a program of the Colorado Bankers Association. He holds a bachelors degree in business administration from Fort Lewis College in Durango and is a graduate of the Western States School of Banking.
