Dancing, dinner and an array of auction items await attendees during Cowboy Christmas, the Boys & Girls Club of Craig's annual fundraiser.

Dinner takes place at 6:30 p.m., followed by a program at 7 p.m. to recognize the club's annual People of the Year awards.

The silent auction closes and the live auction begins at 7:30 p.m., and dancing and a Texas hold 'em tournament begin at 8 p.m.

Auction items range from jewelry and art to a sleigh ride and gift certificates from local merchants.

"We have received tremendous support from the Craig and the Steamboat Springs community to put together auction items that are just fantastic — more and bigger and better than we've ever had before," said Dana Duran, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Colorado.

The event is the club's largest fundraiser, she said, and supports a variety of club services and programs, including homework help as well as leadership and character development programs.

Cowboy Christmas raises about $35,000 a year on average, Duran said, but that's only a fraction of the Craig club's annual budget of roughly $450,000.

The club serves about 900 children a year, she said, or 115 children after school every day.

"This fundraiser makes … everything we do every day possible," she said.

Space is limited, and residents who haven't bought tickets yet can call Duran at 826-0411 to check availability or for more information.
