Al Shepherd: Thanks for the help
May 7, 2011
To the editor:
The 9Health Fair was able to serve more than 485 people at the Craig Lions Club's 31st annual health screening.
Its success is due to the unstinted efforts of more than 40 volunteers, and the Lions want to thank everyone for their help.
Dr. Tom Told and 21 of his students from Rocky Vista University in Parker traveled to Craig to provide the blood drawers and skin cancer screeners who made the health fair go more smoothly and quickly. The Rotary Club, Cedar Mountain Lions, The Memorial Hospital and Key Club Honor Society at the high school and individual community members all contributed their time and talents.
A special thanks to Red Cortner, who provided 20 cases of bottled water (water makes the blood draw easier for the patient and the drawer), and to Kate Peroulis and Mary Papoulas who managed the greeting desk as they have for more than 10 years, and to those who provided displays and information at the fair.
The health fair provides low-cost screening and all money goes for the examination of the blood work. Results will be coming soon in the mail.
