Two Moffat County High School seniors were presented with an Honorary Recruiter Award during the Sunday afternoon performance of The United States Air Force Band of the Rockies, Solar Winds.

Jill Adamek and Jenny Cornman have both been working with the Air Force recruiting office in Craig and both have applied for admission to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

The awards were presented by Technical Sgt. Mike Fleming of Lakewood, Colo., who recruits in the Craig area, and Major Betsy Kalmeyer of Steamboat Springs, who works with the recruiting offices from Granby to Rifle.

Solar Winds is one of nine divisions of the Air Force band. Among them, they perform 600 concerts a year across the United States, in support of the recruiting offices and doing public relations. Those attending enjoyed a variety of musical compositions and Master Sgt. George Roach, one of the band members, called the audience “small, but mighty.”
