This Sunday, it’s a time for candy, church, candy, fancy clothes, candy and family. Did we mention candy?

Whatever your plans are for Easter, join the rest of the Craig community for events celebrating the holiday or otherwise.

■ People are more familiar with a rabbit hiding Easter eggs, but the king of the jungle can fill in just as well.

The Craig Lions Club’s Easter candy race kicks off at 1 p.m. Saturday at Craig City Park, free to all kids younger than 12. Is your preference chocolate, peanut butter, caramel or all of the above?

Better figure it out quickly, because you’ll be competing with quite a few kids eager to take home sweets. Best to show up early or else you might have to wait until Sunday for your fill of the sugary stuff.

For more information, call 640-5194.

■ If crawling around in the grass isn’t for you, there is an easier way to make your child’s Easter special.

Even with his busy schedule, the Easter Bunny will find time to be at the Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way, Sunday. The most famous rabbit of all will be handing out Easter eggs filled with surprises for children younger than 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., so be sure to pick up yours as soon as you can.

For more information, call 819-0018.

nvolve eggs, you probably can’t take home a souvenir from this next event, but it should be an interesting sight nonetheless.

The Extreme Birding Adventure Tour is open to all takers Thursday through Sunday. Get a look at the beauty of nature with the mating dance of the greater sage grouse as guided by the Colorado Environmental Coalition and fellow agencies like Colorado Parks & Wildlife, the Wilderness Society, Rocky Mountain Wild and the Friends of Northwest Colorado.

Remember what they say about the early bird, which applies to both signing up and the tour itself. Not only is space limited on each tour, but guides will be leaving town at about 4:30 a.m.

Tickets are $50 apiece, but $75 buys a ticket complete with CEC membership and a commemorative picture.

For more information, call 824-5241 or visit http://www.ourcolorado.org/get-involved/calendar/greater-sage-grouse-viewing-2-1.html.

■ If watching our feathered friends put on a show isn’t your interest, being involved with a different kind of display might be more your speed.

Black Mountain Theatre begins its rehearsals for “Taming the Wilderness, or A Tale of Two Towns,” at 7 p.m. Monday in the Craig Middle School auditorium, 915 Yampa Ave. With an original script by David Morris, you know it’s bound to be entertaining.

For more information about getting involved, call 824-7158.

■ In case you think things are getting too soft around here with all the bunnies and chicks, the West Theatre retains “The Hunger Games” and “Wrath of the Titans 3D.” Nothing like a couple action movies to toughen you up.

New DVDs out this week share a common theme of animals. Well, kinda.

There’s the family heart-warmer “We Bought a Zoo,” the British drama “Tyrannosaur” and the documentary “Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey,” detailing the career of the man who brought everyone’s favorite “Sesame Street” character to life.

The salute to the furry denizens of the world continues at Redbox with Steven Spielberg’s “War Horse” along with less heavily promoted features like the suspenseful “Columbus Circle” and the comedy “Dysfunctional Friends.”

Hate “Twilight?” If so, you’ll want to rent the spoof of the vampire/werewolf love series with the goofiest possible title: “Breaking Wind.”

Hey, it’s no more laughable than Taylor Lautner’s career.
