In Response to Lou Hahn:
Your stated reason against support of John Ponikvar for mayor is one of the most absurd things I have ever read. It is right up there with voting for a president based on race or gender. If you had bothered to attend the candidate forum, you would know that Mr. Ponikvar is not in favor of retail marijuana. He is in favor of democracy and the people's right to vote. He stated quite clearly that this issue should be on the ballot, and he personally would vote NO. I agree. This controversial issue should be voted on by the citizens, and finally put to rest. Since so many people are against, why the worry over a vote?
Good 'old boy — the phrase can often suggest a man with an anti-intellectual bias or some other intolerant viewpoint.
I do support Mr. Ponikvar for mayor. While I do not know him personally, I have witnessed his participation as a council member. He is honest, level headed, and intently interested in all things Craig. Additionally, he fully comprehends and embraces his role of working for the people.
