Weekend Roundup: Clean up, putter around, keep it green


There’s a common theme in many Northwest Colorado activities this weekend: they involve a lot of green. And, that doesn’t mean money.

Craig Middle School track and field will host the Moffat County Night Relays Friday at the Moffat County High School track. Come cheer on young athletes as they continue to grow in the sport.

And, remember, next week is MCHS’s Clint Wells Invitational.

Support the ride

Freedom Hooves will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Friday night at Craig Christian Church to support its therapeutic riding program. The night includes dinner, dessert, music, auctions, drawings and more.

When: Doors open at 5, dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. Friday

Theater dweebs

The Kids Theater Group with Colorado Northwestern Community College presents a one-night presentation of an original play by David Morris.

The curtain goes up Friday night at Craig Middle School on “Snow White & the Seven Dweebs,” promising plenty of laughs and no charge for admission.

Cleaner and greener

Western Knolls is seeking volunteers for a cleanup day Saturday as part of Earth Day. Crews will be out on the access road about seven miles west of Craig for several hours during the morning.

Participants are asked to bring work gloves, trash bags and water, as well as bright or reflective clothes.

Sock it to me

The Moffat County High School girls soccer program hosts its only remaining weekend game Saturday morning as the Bulldogs take on Aspen. This leads up to the final home game when Moffat County hosts Basalt Tuesday afternoon, which will include varsity and JV games.

Mini-golf, full-size fun

The annual Putt-Putt Classic returns Saturday as local bars set up their specialty greens inside and outside. Teams of four will start at Mathers Bar and play through three holes each at Mathers, JW Snack’s Bar & Grill and The Popular Bar.

Teams are encouraged to dress in costume for prizes. Players must be 21 or older and supply their own putters and golf balls.

Registration should be done by Saturday morning and teams should meet at Mathers around noon.
