Sara Linsacum will host a youth volleyball camp at Moffat County High School for three days in June.

The camp will teach all aspects of volleyball, including passing, serving and footwork. Fundamentals will be the focus for campers of all skill levels. The camp is for girls entering first through eighth grade next fall.

First- through third-graders will work from 8 to 9 a.m. June 23 to 25, with camp from 9 to 10 a.m. for fourth through sixth grade, and 10 a.m. to noon for seventh- and eighth-graders.

For more information or to register, call Linsacum at 970-819-7434.

Youth summer soccer beginning next week

Bill Sawer will host a free youth summer soccer camp and league at his fields beginning next week.

The camp will have weekly practices for beginners and more advanced players, along with a refereed game each Wednesday. Sawer said he designed the schedule so players could participate in Parks and Recreation games on the other days of the week and still take part in the weekly games at his park.

Practices for beginners ages 10 and younger will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Sawer Soccer Park on West First Street, beginning after Memorial Day. The advanced practice for players up to age 14 will be at the same time Thursdays.

Players are encouraged to bring shinguards but no soccer cleats. Sawer has extra equipment available to use for those without shinguards.

Youth basketball camp coming up at MCHS

Moffat County High School will host a new youth basketball camp this summer.

The Progressive Basketball Academy will be in Craig from June 12 to 14 to host a Fun with Fundamentals Skill Camp for basketball players entering second through eighth grade.

The camp is directed by longtime college coach Mike Moskowitz and will help young players develop “fundamental skill and love for the game,” according to the camp’s website.

The camp runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. all three days and costs $120. Some of the proceeds will go toward the MCHS basketball program. To register, visit http://abcsportscamps.com/progressive.

Youth tennis lessons beginning in June

Craig Parks and Recreation will host tennis lessons for local youths at the Lincoln Street Tennis Courts.

The lessons are for children ages 8 to 12 and will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from June 2 to 26. Participants must be able to bring a racquet and have tennis shoes that won’t mark the courts.

For more information, call Parks and Rec at 970-826-2029.

Signups open for summer water aerobics session

Craig Parks and Recreation is taking registration for the next session of water aerobics at the Craig Swimming Complex this summer.

Water aerobics offers a low-resistance method of exercise and can improve fitness and flexibility without over-working joints. During the summer, shallow water and deep water classes will be offered. Shallow classes will be Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. or 6 to 7 p.m. Deep water will be at the same times on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Classes begin June 2 and run through Aug. 14. The fee for one session is $50 or $90 for both sets of classes, or people can drop in to individual classes for $4. For more information, call Parks and Rec at 970-826-2029.
