The Craig Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the city of Craig to apply for a grant that would match the cost of developing an online interactive map and interactive kiosks that would highlight local businesses, trails, attractions and more.
There is a one-time $10,000 fee for development of the map and purchase of touch-screen kiosks that would be available 24/7 at several locations throughout Moffat County. Residents can see a sample of this map at www.visitcrawford.dreamhosters.com/imap/imap.
“Everyone who has seen the demonstration absolutely loves the map and sees what a great tool it would be for visitors to Moffat County,” Chamber Executive Director Christina Oxley said.
The Chamber is seeking matching funding from the city, county and $3,000 from the lodging tax fund administered by the Moffat County Tourism Association.
Oxley said the city was very supportive and will submit the grant request and that the commissioners liked the idea, but deferred the funding request to the Human Resource Council. The tourism association has not met yet, but said they may not have that much money in their budget.
“They did say the fourth quarter lodging tax revenue came in much higher than they budgeted, so we’re hoping they’ll see the map as a great marketing tool and visitor service and fund the request,” Oxley said.
