Residents of Shadow Mountain received an unlikely and unruly visitor to their neighborhood Thursday.

A moose made its way into the trailer park on the west side of Craig, walking around the streets for a while before sitting down in the shade beneath a tree on Alder Place. Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials were on the scene and keeping residents and curious parties away from the moose, saying it became agitated from all the people it had come across in the neighborhood.

Officials weren’t sure if the moose got to Craig by following the Yampa River or if it came from the north, but they hoped to let it cool off in the shade (temperatures in Craig neared 80 degrees Thursday) and calm down before making its way out of town.
