The junior golf program at Yampa Valley Golf Course will begin in early June and is open for registration.
The PGA Sports Academy will be open to all youth golfers, ages 6 to 17, of all skill levels. It will follow a Professional Golf Association curriculum to teach all aspects of the game to the next generation of golfers.
The program will begin June 10 and continue from 10 to 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday for eight weeks. It will culminate in the Soda Pop Open, a tournament for the youths.
Lunch and snacks will be provided each day of class, and there will be a cookout after the tournament.
YVGC hosted an open house Tuesday, giving kids and parents a chance to meet head pro Bob Mueller and get acquainted with the facilities, but registration is still available until next week.
The cost is $95, and those interested can register at the YVGC pro shop. Contact Mueller at 970-824-3673 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.

Free summer soccer camp at Sawer Soccer Park
Bill Sawer will host a free youth summer soccer camp and league at his fields throughout the summer.
The camp has weekly practices for beginners and more advanced players, along with a refereed game each Wednesday. Sawer said he designed the schedule so players could participate in Craig Parks and Recreation games on the other days of the week and still take part in the weekly games at his park.
Practices for beginners ages 10 and younger are from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Sawer Soccer Park on West First Street. The advanced practice for players ages 14 and younger are at the same time Thursdays. Players can show up whenever they want.
Players are encouraged to bring shinguards but no soccer cleats. Sawer has extra equipment available to use for those without shinguards.
