Junior Herndon: Baseball academy success
To the editor:
As founder and owner of Herndon’s Five Tool Baseball Academy, I would like to take the time to thank and appreciate all of the support I received this weekend for my first baseball camp. Without the people and support that I had, none of this would have been possible. First of all, I would like to thank all of the players that attended the camp. Your attitude, willingness and eagerness to learn, and your hard work were greatly appreciated and sooner than later will start paying off. Please keep up the good work. To the parents of the players that attended, thank you for your support and believing in something that I truly believe will start to turn the baseball program around in this area for our kids.
Thank you Yampa Valley Bank and Craig Physical Therapy for being an organized and easy place for me to distribute and collect registrations. Hibbet Sports in Craig for its gift donations that were handed out to the kids and for being a local place for me to buy all of my equipment that I needed to put this camp on. A special thanks to Carrie Hertzog for taking time out of her schedule to come out to the park and take pictures for me. Lysa Valora, you did a wonderful job putting all the information that I needed and creating the registrations brochures. I received numerous comments on how well they were put together, I cannot thank you enough for all of the time and effort you put into them. I want to thank the city of Craig for making sure the fields were prepped and in good shape and allowing me to rent them out. I appreciate your efforts greatly.
I am a firm believer you are only going to be as good as the people you surround yourself with so at this time I would like to appreciate and thank my staff for all of their help. It was pretty easy to see from my eyes the passion for the game pour out of these guys when they took the field with your children. John Papierski, Jeff LaRoche, Jordan Williams, Grady Wilson, Rich Sadvar and the numerous volunteers all made this possible. I thank you all so much and cannot wait to do it again.
Last but surely not least, my family. For giving me the support, inspiring me and encouraging me to find the baseball field again and spread my love and knowledge for the game to as many people as possible. I love you and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
