— The 22-year-old man who was in Routt County Jail with pending cases when his 3-year-old son died was sentenced to 18 months in jail Monday.

Tyler Davis will receive credit for the 179 days he already has been incarcerated.

Davis is the father of Austin Davis, who died March 27.

Austin's mother, Meghan McKeon, has been charged with two felony counts of child abuse resulting in the death of Austin. She also is being held at the jail with bond set at $250,000. Police think McKeon left Austin at home for four days while she worked and stayed at a boyfriend’s house. McKeon and Austin were staying at Steamboat Campground in a cabin with no running water. McKeon's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 18 in Routt County Court.

When Austin died, Davis had four cases pending.

After Austin's death, Davis was given a personal recognizance bond and released into the custody of his mother, Charity O'Konski, April 3. On April 8, O’Konski contacted Granby police and said Davis was “out of control,” and she wanted him removed from her apartment, according to the arrest affidavit.

Davis originally was arrested in Steamboat in July 2013 after police said he approached several underage teenage girls and asked them for sex in exchange for money.

As part of a plea deal with the District Attorney's Office, Davis pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment for following a person and was ordered to register as a sex offender for five years. Davis was arrested after failing to register as a sex offender.

On Monday, Davis pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender, and three other cases were dismissed. As part of the original case, Davis again was ordered to register as a sex offender.

Couldn't come up with a better headline? How thoughtless.

I don't need to explain, it's right there. Sorry you can't see that.

Evidently, I don't possess your level of self righteous sanctimony. I'll try not to lose any sleep over it.
