Craig City Council July 8 meeting recap

Erin Fenner

At their regular bimonthly meeting, Craig City Council members:

• Approved, 6-0 (Craig City Council member Tony Bohrer was absent), the renewal of a tavern liquor license for Thunder Rolls Bowling Center.

• Approved, 6-0, the renewal of a hotel and restaurant license for Galaxy Restaurant.

• Discussed the audit for the 2013 city budget put together by Daniel Cudahy, CPA for McMahan and Associates. “The city received a clean opinion. The audit went well,” Cudahy said. But he did have recommendations for the city since the budget is tight. “The city is going to have to keep an eye on revenues and expenditures,” he said. It soon may be time to make cuts, he said.

• Discussed the Craig Police Department monthly report. Crime is down again, Craig Police Chief Walt Vanatta said. That could have a lot to do with there being few events that would attract disturbances or crime, he said.
