Jacie Evenson, 9, of Craig, is moving on to shoot among Colorado’s best young free-throw shooters.
Evenson participated in the Elks Hoop Shoot district competition last weekend in Leadville, making 17 out of 25 attempts from the foul line and taking first place in the girls ages 8 to 9 division. She will travel to Salida on Feb. 22 for the state shoot.
The Elks host the Hoop Shoot annually in Craig, with winners given the chance to move on to districts, state, regional and national competitions if they are able to keep winning.
Evenson displayed a consistent shooting stroke at the local competition in December and was on fire in Leadville, said her father, Chad Evenson.
