The first summit is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today, and the second meeting is from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday. Both meetings will be in Room 175 at the Craig’s new campus of Colorado Northwestern Community College.
We encourage the community — all ages, not just seniors — to take part in the two meetings to discuss the possibility of opening a senior center.
It’s extremely important to have a place where seniors can gather and socialize. The last meeting that was held in November was successful, with more than 30 people in attendance.
We think that’s wonderful, and it shows us that the community is serious about opening a center.
We’d like to give praise to the Moffat County Council on Aging for hosting the summits and for having the forethought to start dialogue about the topic.
Additionally, our hats are off to Neil Folks for all his dedication and hard work on the council. We’d also like to recognize Corrie Ponikvar and Russell George for their participation, enthusiasm and dedication to helping the community compose a plan.
We think that everyone involved is going about it in the right way by starting small and building on great ideas.
Participants are asked to park in the west parking lot and enter the building through the north door. Refreshments will be provided.
For any special concerns, such as physical challenges, contact Neil Folks at email@example.com or call 970-326-8726.
