Cabbage is in season at the low price of roughly $0.99 a head shows it. The mild tasting and crunchy fiber-rich “cruciferous” vegetable is excellent source of vitamin C and K. Try cabbage as the “lettuce” in a salad instead of the higher priced romaine or iceberg, in traditional slaw, steamed, stuffed with meat and rice or tossed in a soup. You can prevent the release of its smelly sulfuric compounds by cooking cabbage quickly.
