Common winter greens are chard, collard greens and kale. As the name indicates they are in season through the winter months. This makes them an excellent option to choose versus traditional salad right now. These greens are full of iron, calcium, potassium and vitamins A & C.
Try simmering them in a skillet with olive oil and chicken stock and serve with chopped walnuts. The olive oil and walnuts will provide heart healthy monounsaturated fatty acids and the powerful antioxidant Vitamin E.
