“We’re really excited to have so many people interested in serving the community,” said Brandi Meek, Moffat County chairwoman for the Colorado Republican executive committee.

Larry Dalton, a Moffat County Sheriff’s Office deputy, announced he would run for the office of sheriff in the upcoming election. He will run against Moffat County Undersheriff Charlene Abdella.

“Through the 15 years (I’ve lived in Craig), I’ve come to understand the city and Moffat County and have a better idea of those desires and want to help (residents) obtain those desires,” Dalton said.

Chuck Cobb told the crowd he would run for county assessor, and Linda Peters spoke about her plans to run for county treasurer.

Frank Moe, who has been campaigning since May 2013, took time to go over his run for the District 3 Moffat County commissioner seat. But Glenda Bellio, who formerly announced she would vie for a commissioner seat, withdrew her bid.

Elected officials who have another term ahead of them took an opportunity to announce running for a second term. Lila Herod, the county clerk and recorder; Kirk McKey, the county coroner; and Rep. Bob Rankin, R-Carbondale, all announced their bid for re-election.
