Scam alert: Members of YVEA don’t be fooled
Yampa Valley Electric Association has received several calls from members saying that they have received calls from persons fictitiously representing YVEA. The persons are telling members that they have not received payment for their November bill, and power will be disconnected if a payment is not received. This is a scam. The number from caller ID is 866-373-4410 and when called is answered as “Disconnection Department.” This is a not a legal or recognized representative of YVEA. If you receive a call of this nature, contact your local police department or YVEA at 970-879-1160 and report it. Remember to never give personal or bank information to unknown parties.
Pond dredging at park moving along smoothly
The pond-dredging project at Loudy-Simpson Park is well underway.
Since Anson Excavating started the project in the beginning of January, it has hauled 34,000 yards of sludge out of the pond. But, that’s more silt than planned. The project has a budget of $300,000 and Roy Tipton, of Moffat County Development Services, said the county is in no danger of going over, even though there will be more work than anticipated. It will be dredging 11,000 more yards of sludge than planned, Tipton said.
Anson Excavating should wrap up that work by the end of the week.
“Then we got to go back and clean up the shoreline,” Tipton said. “We got some cleanup work to do. We’re going to make it so that it’s something really special for that park.”
The overall project should be completed by the beginning of March, Tipton said.
