Craig Several local businesses got involved with the flood relief effort taking place in Craig.
The Steamboat Institute has been taking donations since Monday to help victims of the floods in northern Colorado, and Craig has gotten involved from across the Yampa Valley, as well. At the Best Western Plus Deer Park Inn and Suites, trailers were being filled to bring to Steamboat Springs on Wednesday morning.
Involvement in Craig grew as the word spread Monday and Tuesday.
Walmart, Kmart, City Market and Walgreens all agreed to set boxes aside in their stores for customers to buy items to donate and place in the boxes, according to Best Western owner and manager Kerry Moe. They were planning on collecting the boxes and whatever was donated before leaving for Steamboat on Wednesday.
Coca-Cola High Country donated several pallets of bottled water, soda and other beverages to the effort.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Fuller Center for Housing donated its remaining reserves of clothing collected during the past few years. It regularly has donated clothing to disaster relief in the past. Moffat County High School students helped the Fuller Center drop off boxes at Best Western on Tuesday afternoon.
