— Rhett Pair has been on a three-year-long venture to open a debt solution company, and it finally has come to reality in Craig: It’s called Rocky Mountain Debt Solutions, and its grand opening is Tuesday.

The new business will be located at 11 W. Victory Way in Suite 205.

After working as a subprime loan officer in California for a number of years, Pair decided that what he really wants to do is help people with their debts and teach them how to manage their credit.

“I love working with local businesses, and I love giving back to the community,” Pair said. “I want to help people. That’s my goal, and that’s why I have an open-door policy with no up-front fees. I want to teach people how to understand credit and how to manage it themselves.”

Having moved to Craig from Redding, Calif., in early August, Pair has received help and support from numerous local businesses such as Chaos Ink, Bank of The West, Ram Designs and Identity Graphics to get his business up and going.

Pair is happy to represent and advise clients who find themselves in debt or need help managing their credit. He also will work with clients and creditors to either get payments lowered or get them on a plan that works for both.

If Pair is able to help a client pay off a debt, he will charge 2 percent of the total debt paid off and is willing to work out a payment plan with his clients. If he is unable to help, he will have a six-month re-contact period and if he still is unable to provide a solution, he will not charge his clients.

“From a banking perspective, it could be good or it could be bad. From a lending perspective, it could have a lot of risk. Credit can be hard to handle, but it can be helpful to have that extra resource,” said Amanda Field, Wells Fargo’s home mortgage consultant in Craig.

Ultimately, Pair’s long-term goal is to expand his business throughout the state and eventually the country. He is also in the process of joining the Craig Chamber Of Commerce and is working on launching a website for clients to set up appointments, participate in online video chats and learn more about his business.
