To the editor:
On Saturday, Sept. 21, the Craig Daily Press published an article with the provocative title “Craig Station Ranks as No. 1 carbon polluting power plant in Colorado. ”
Whether or not a coincidence, the Craig and Moffat county citizens just recently became aware that the EPA is having a so called “public listening tour” on new regulations for existing coal fired power plants.
The tour originally excluded and avoided “coal country.” The public meeting scheduled for Denver is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30.
The address for the EPA Region 8 office is 1595 Wynkoop St., Denver.
Craig and Moffat County’s economic future could be determined at this meeting. A caravan with carpooling is being arranged for those wanting to support coal jobs. For updated information go to www.facebook.com/support
At 8 a.m. that same morning, there will be a “rally” with coal miners, power plant workers, coal fired power plant executives and political figures at the steps of the EPA Region 8 office.
This is your opportunity to get involved and ensure a positive economic future for Craig and Moffat County.
