— A young man was tracked down by Craig police after fleeing from a traffic stop Wednesday in Craig.

Josh Milligan was contacted along Ranney Street when he pulled behind the Atmos Energy building near the intersection of First and Ranney streets, exited his car and ran.

The Moffat County Sheriff’s Department was called in to help search with a canine unit. They circled the Atmos building, the Pro Auto building next door, and then followed a trail east on First Street until eventually giving up the search on the scene.

The vehicle was taken to the impound as the police cleared the scene.

Milligan was found soon afterward when the police tracked him down at a residence. Craig Police Sgt. Tony Fandel said he was found and taken into custody at about 12:30 p.m.

The vehicle was contacted because Milligan’s license has been revoked.

“It’s not clear why he fled, but the reason the vehicle was contacted was because he’s revoked,” Fandel said. “He doesn’t have a driver’s license, so he’s not supposed to be driving.”
