Craig briefs: Craig Daily Press launches Hunter Photo Contest

The Craig Daily Press is seeking hunting photo submissions for its Hunter Photo Contest. The newspaper will collect submissions through Saturday. Whoever submits the best hunter photo will receive a $250 gift certificate to Murdoch’s. Send photos to editor@CraigDailyPress.com. Event commiserates memory of loved ones

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association will help the community celebrate the memory of loved ones from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Craig VNA. The VNA will have a Celebration of Light Tree onto which community members can place a personalized ornament. Supplies will be provided along with refreshments. Libraries announce Thanksgiving closures

All branches of the Moffat County Libraries will be closed Thursday through Sunday for the Thanksgiving holiday. The libraries reopen for regular business hours Monday.

Bird walk area open year-round near Hayden

The 921-acre Carpenter Ranch east of Hayden, is one of two local sites protected by The Nature Conservancy in Colorado and designated as Important Bird Areas by the National Audubon Society. The other site near Hayden is the 329-acre Yampa River Preserve, which is open to the public year-round for birding, fishing and hiking.
