Join Veterans of Foreign Wars on Veterans Day for a dinner honoring vets and their spouses.

Food Bank to distribute at the Boys and Girls Club

Food Bank of the Rockies mobile food pantry will distribute food from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig. There also will be a TEFAP commodities distribution. Bring supporting documents if you qualify. Distribution will be inside at 1324 E. U.S. Highway 40 in Craig. Bring boxes or bags for your food.  

MCHS Veterans Day assembly is at 8 a.m.

Moffat County High School is having a Veteran’s Day assembly from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Monday. The assembly will consist of viewing the movie “Saving Chance,” a Veteran’s panel, and a Veteran’s slideshow.

Craig Community Blood drive Tuesday

Community members wanting to donate blood can do so from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at The Memorial Hospital. The need for blood remains constant, and Bonfils Blood Center needs help from Craig and Moffat County residents. Daily Press launches Hunter Photo Contest

The Craig Daily Press is seeking hunting photo submissions for its Hunter Photo Contest. The newspaper is accepting submissions through Nov. 30. Christmas tree permits are on sale in Meeker

Permits for cutting Christmas trees on Bureau of Land Management lands within designated areas of the White River Field Office now are on sale, according to a press release.

Permits are $10 per tree and may be purchased between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the White River Field Office, 220 E. Market St. in Meeker, Mondays through Fridays. Permits also are available at the Rio Blanco County Clerk Office in Rangely. 

Pinyon pine and junipers are the only types of trees that may be cut. The BLM allows three permits per household.

BLM recommends bringing along a handsaw, rope or twine, extra food, water and blankets.

Many of the areas will have limited vehicle access depending on snow depths. Weather and road conditions can change quickly. For more information, call the BLM information desk at 970 878-3800.
