A medical emergency is an injury or illness that is so severe that without immediate treatment, it threatens your life or health.

If you think your life or health is in danger, your situation is an emergency.

I have a fact sheet in my office pertaining to what the VA considers an emergency.

I recommend all veterans get a copy of this because there many people going to the emergency room and then getting a bill for services.

Also, you can look up the information at www.nonvacare.va.gov.

I will be out of the office Monday through Thursday. To schedule a ride to Grand Junction, call Rene Morris at 970-824-9145. She will coordinate the ride and a driver.

All other business will be postponed until I return.

Veterans Day is Monday. Please take some time to honor all veterans who are serving and those who have served or gave their lives for our freedom. Remember, without them, we might be speaking Japanese or German!

If anyone knows of a returning veteran, please contact me or a member of the VFW or American Legion so we can welcome him or her with a Hometown Heroes reception.

Veterans now can get tele-pysch services at the Craig VA Telehealth Clinic. Call 970-263-2824 to set up a follow-up appointment for a mental health visit. If there are any questions, contact Jayne Scribner at VAMC Grand Junction via phone or at jayne.scribner@va.gov.

For information on these programs and/or other veterans’ benefits, call or stop in the Moffat County VSO office at 480 Barclay St. (west of the Bank of Colorado parking lot). Call 970-824-3246 or use the fax 970-824-7108. Our email address is veterans@

moffatcounty.net. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Other times can be arranged by appointment only. Bring a copy of your separation papers (DD-214) for application for VA programs and for filing at our office.
