The annual Love in the Name of Christ, also known as Love INC, Coat Distribution is being held this week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The organization began distributing coats Monday and will continue to do so through Thursday at Centennial Mall.

“One of our missions is to meet the unmet needs of the community,” said Pat Jones, the executive director of Love INC.

Love INC started its annual coat distribution in 2004 and now is on its ninth year. The organizers are accepting coat donations at the Calvary Baptist Church, the Craig Christian Church, the Journey at First Baptist Church and the Love INC office, 656 School St. If anyone would like to donate, there will be a box in front of each of these buildings for donations.

Businesses such as Loyd’s Cleaners also will dry clean the donated coats for free and A-1 Dry Cleaners Laundry & Car Wash will allow Love INC to wash coats for free for one year.

Jones said that it’s wonderful to see donors bring in coats and that she loves to help people and kids fit into their new coats.

“We live in such a generous community,” Jones said.

Love INC also will be giving away Thanksgiving food boxes this year for families in need. Moffat County families that are in need of a Thanksgiving food box can contact the Love INC Clearinghouse at 970-826-4400. The Clearinghouse service hours will be 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and the deadline to call is Nov. 21. Upon calling, people will be asked to fill out a short application over the phone. The applicants also must be able to demonstrate a need and provide information that will need to be verified. Boxes will begin being delivered at 2 p.m. Nov. 23.

Bear Steadman, a student at Colorado Northwestern Community College, is working as a fall intern for the Craig Daily Press.
