Craig The Memorial Hospital in Craig has a new chief executive officer.
During a special meeting Friday, the TMH Board of Trustees named Chris Smolik as its new CEO.
Before making its final decision, TMH Board members heard one last time feedback from hospital doctors and staff about Smolik’s second round of interviews, which took place this week in Craig. The comments were overwhelmingly positive.
“I do want to thank all of you for the work you did,” TMH Board Chairman Don Cook said in a news release. “It was a hospital-wide effort to make this happen, and it’s very clear that people took pride in the process.”
During his latest round of interviews with TMH staff, doctors and board members, and members of the Moffat County community, Smolik stressed the importance of a patient-centered culture at TMH.
“To achieve this TMH must be a place employees want to work, doctors want to practice and patients want to receive care,” Smolik said in the release. “Every decision is about what is best for the patient.”
Smolik’s first day at TMH is June 17. He will take over for interim CEO Joyce Hein. Hein was appointed in January following the resignation of former CEO George Rohrich.
Smolik comes to TMH from Riverton, Wyo., where he served for six years as the CEO of the Riverton Memorial Hospital. Prior to Riverton, Smolik served as CEO of Edinburg Regional Medical Center in Edinburg, Texas.
