— The Moffat County girls soccer team gathered Monday at the high school to celebrate its record-breaking season and to dish out end-of-year awards.

The Bulldogs had a great deal to celebrate about a season in which they posted a school-record eight wins and made the state playoffs before losing in double overtime to Manitou Springs. After an 8-7-1 finish (including 5-4 in the Western Slope League), their end-of-season rewards reflected that success.

Four Bulldogs were given all-league honors, as voted on by the coaches of the Class 3A WSL. Jazmine Swindler and Allie Ehlers were picked First-Team All-WSL, while Rose Howe and Skylar Tripp were WSL Honorable Mention.

Moffat County’s athletes also had a great deal of success away from the field. Eight Bulldogs earned good enough grades this year to be Academic All-State. Tori Snyder, Abi Gonzales, Rose Howe, Kylee Gorringe and Jazmine Swindler were first team, and Bailey Hellander, Bretta Buchanan, Brittany Walker and Brenna Ciesco were honorable mention.

A host of other awards were handed out to varsity and JV team members, as voted on by both coaches and players. The Bulldogs also celebrated the careers of eight seniors, who were the first class to complete four years under head coach Harry Tripp.
