The Moffat County High School girls golf team’s season came to an end Tuesday when the Bulldogs failed to advance any players to the state tournament.
The Bulldogs played much like they have in recent weeks at River Valley Ranch in Aspen, but it wasn’t enough to advance from regionals.
Caitlin Harjes again led the way, shooting 100 on the day. Katelyn Peroulis was at 103, Alex Bulla at 106, and Lexi Gonzalez shot 144 to round out Moffat County’s scores.
“Unfortunately we had nobody (qualify),” head coach Ann Marie Roberts said. “This was the lowest (the scores) have been for a long time. It was tough this year.”
But Roberts was happy with her players, especially Bulla, the lone senior on Moffat County this season. It was a strong round for her to go out on, the coach said.
“That was about 10 strokes lower than she’s been most of the year,” Roberts said.
With so many returning players for next season, Roberts has high hopes for 2014.
“It was exciting to see them improve this season,” she said. “Everyone improved. Even with that lack of time on the range, even the little time we had was pretty good. I think we’re going to be good next year.
