Craig The Northwest Colorado Dental Coalition announced the winners of its February Oral Health Poster Contest by surprising winning students in their classrooms Monday morning.
The theme for the inaugural year of the competition was, “What does oral health mean to you?”
Out of 185 entries, one winner was selected from each grade from preschool to fifth grade, and one winner was chosen from the middle school. Winners received community spree bucks, $25 for preschool through third-graders, and $50 for fourth- through eighth-graders.
The coalition’s board of directors judged the posters and chose the winners.
Dental Coalition Executive Director Janet Pearcey said the contest, which was a collaborations with Moffat County schools and Connections 4 Kids, was a great way to gauge students’ perception of good oral health.
“We wanted to do something for Dental Health Month and see what they knew,” said Lyndi Smith of the Dental Coalition.
The winning posters will hang in the Dental Coalition’s office.
