As I glance out the window and see it is still snowing, deer access the street going on their daily walk to find food. It reminds me of when I lived up in the mountains, close to timberline in a sawmill camp. A very beautiful place it was, and winter was a wonderland.
My dad made the furniture and we had one kerosene lamp. Everyone went to bed soon after the supper dishes were done. My dad made me a game board and he and I would play a game he taught me using pinto beans and buttons for pieces.
Those were the days, my friends. No TVs or telephones. I know realize it was just lots of love and learning about what really counts in life. It’s all about family. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have every new gadget as long as you have someone who cares and shares with you the goodness of God’s grace and glory.
Happy birthday to Stella Chapman and Shirley Powell.
Get-well wishes and speedy recovery to Bob Harrington, Teddy Rice and Paula Lux.
