— Craig city workers dug a huge hole in the corner of Yampa Avenue and Victory Way on Wednesday morning in order to fix a water valve leak on a water main.

The work crew started early and finished construction later in the afternoon.

“We just don’t know yet if it’s a bolt that’s gone or just a seal” that caused the leak, said Tim Kulp, a water technician for the city. “We’re hoping to just repair the valve.”

The city found out about the leak because a small puddle of water was present over the valve on the street prior to digging up the corner.

I know that the City and county don't have to abide by OSHA regulations but how can the road and bridge department manager allow those employees to put themselves in harms way like that? Shame on whomever is in charge of that operations GET SOME SHORING IN THERE!
