Sunset’s SAC approves funds for after school intervention

Sunset’s School Accountability Committee met Tuesday to discuss their fundraiser, improvement plan and extended day intervention and enrichment programs. Members discussed:
• Possibly changing their fundraiser vendor in 2013 due to issues with the timing of Sandrock’s fundraiser
• Creating a committee to manage the flower pot fundraiser
• A grassroots effort started for a book study focused on Learner Centered Teaching Practices
• Curriculum alignment concerning Understanding by Design
• Instruction to meet all learners needs and allow for growth for all learners
• Allocating up to $3,000 to provide after school programs for all students to offer different curriculum
• The committee approved allocating up to $3,000 to provide after school intervention for fourth and fifth graders struggling with literacy
