The fresh start of a new life entering the world is something to be celebrated whenever it occurs.
But Khyler Edmond Fross, born at 4:01 p.m. January 4 to Amber and Chris Fross of Craig, had even more to be celebrated, he was the first baby born at The Memorial Hospital in Craig in the new year.
“We really had no idea. We weren’t planning on being the first,” Chris said. “Everything went really well.”
Joining sister Shaelynne Fross, 2, Khyler came into the world weighing 9 pounds and was 19-1/4 inches long.
The Fross’ said Shaelynne has welcomed Khyler and tries to help mommy and daddy whenever she can.
“She’s very helpful. She loves her new baby brother. Sometimes a little too much,” Amber said with a chuckle.
“She’s been trying to be a big help,” Chris said.
Amber delivered Khyler a week early by inducing labor and both her and Khyler were released the following Sunday after Khyler experienced some blood sugar problems and contracted jaundice.
“It’s really neat,” said Khyler’s grandmother Carol Fross. “We’re very excited for him to be here.”
Maternal grandparents are Rick and Lynda Hooper of Middleton, Idaho and paternal grandparents are Pat and Carol Fross of Craig, Colo.
