To the editor:
Recently I have received letters regarding The Memorial Hospital (TMH) and read several letters to the editor of the Craig Daily Press regarding TMH physicians, staff and administration.
I heard the concern and angst of patients who have been cared for in our hospital. Many of the complaints were about their health care providers or hospital administration.
I have also heard stories of very good care and patient satisfaction. We all must take pride in our hospital to maintain our local health care system.
Thank you for those who took the time to report specific situations so the staff can make the necessary changes. I am concerned that rumors and misinformation are fueling some stories.
Some complaints I received are followed with a solution of ‘firing’ the top management. Often these attacks followed an interaction when that person had a personal conflict or heard comments from a former employee.
However, I believe that our TMH policies must be followed by administration to ensure all employees receive fair treatment.
All patient issues are serious and must be addressed following protocol. Address your patient care comments and concerns directly to TMH CEO George Rohrich, or to Jennifer Riley who is in charge of service excellence, so your concern can be resolved.
The TMH Board of Trustees is appointed by Moffat County Commissioners to guide our local hospital and establishes policies for health care services at TMH.
TMH has developed financial stability and growth along with quality of care measured by patient surveys returned to an outside company. TMH has begun employing physicians and that process is new for our community, but has developed local physicians providing a high quality of care in our area in addition to our private providers.
Also, I ask for civil conversations addressing our local hospital issues. We should thoughtfully discuss and resolve issues when we are seeking information or disagree.
As all of us are not allowed confidential information, some decisions must remain at TMH administration and Board level. There is a public forum for addressing any concerns regarding TMH during the ‘public comment’ section of TMH Board Meeting on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the TMH Board Meeting Room.

Your county commissioners will be reviewing applicants for two TMH Board of Trustee positions soon. Consider submitting your application to be considered for a Board position.
