The Record for March 1, 2013

Crime of the month

From the “You can’t make this stuff up” file:

Craig Police Department officers responded to a report of a man banging on the door of an apartment. Upon arrival, officers observed the man break a window and enter the apartment. What began as a simple noise complaint suddenly became a burglary.

When confronted by officers, the man said, “I don’t like cops and I want to go home,” according to police reports. Coincidentally, the man’s home was the one he had just broken into and in which he had destroyed some property.

Although residents can’t be arrested for burglarizing their own homes, they can be taken to jail if one of the conditions of their parole is to refrain from alcohol consumption.

As reported by Sgt. John Forgay in CPD’s January month-end report.
