Craig Sports Briefs for Dec. 14, 2013: Snake River boys basketball off to undefeated start

The Little Snake River Valley School boys basketball team, defending three straight 1A Wyoming state championships, has picked up where it left off, beginning the 2013-14 season 4-0.

The Rattlers have played just one home game so far, but that hasn’t slowed them down. They began the season with wins against Front Range Baptist, 58-36, and Eagle Ridge Academy, 72-49, in the Falcon Invitational Tournament in Brighton on Dec. 5 and 6.

After that, they earned a 59-51 win against West Grand High School in Baggs, Wyo.

This week, Snake River traveled to the Meeker Cowboy Shoot-Out tournament and took down Soroco, 63-57, in its first game of the tourney. They had a Friday night matchup against Rangely and a Saturday game against an opponent to be determined.

The girls basketball team played in the girls Meeker tournament Dec. 5 and 6, picking up a win and a loss. The Rattlers fell to Meeker, 52-27, before beating Rangely, 35-32, the following day. They played Friday night, as well, at Meeteetse in a 1A Wyoming clash.

Classes run through Jan. 15 and will not occur during winter break. To sign up for the session costs $45, or those interested can attend individual classes for $4. For more information, call Craig Parks and Recreation at 970-826-2017.

Moffat County wrestling dual postponed

No makeup date has been scheduled yet for Moffat County wrestling's dual at Grand Valley.

The two schools are working to find another date for the match. It is possible the dual could be canceled. Moffat County is looking to schedule so the team would travel to Parachute and wrestle Grand Valley, then have reduced traveling to Grand Junction for more matches the following day.
