Joshua Johnson is the new president of the Craig branch of the Bank of Colorado.

The Craig branch of the Bank of Colorado welcomed its new president, Joshua Johnson, on Nov. 1. He has been settling into town nicely.

Johnson has worked with the Bank of Colorado in its Estes Park location since 2010, but got a promotion and transfer when the former Craig Bank of Colorado president, Alisa Corey, left her position.

Before coming to Colorado, Johnson worked in banking in Nebraska for 10 years. Johnson got his MBA in finance from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and he went to the Graduate School of Banking at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Johnson said he has experience in commercial lending and in the agricultural department, which will provide him the experience necessary to handle Craig’s diverse needs.

I want to “continue to serve the community from a lending and deposit standpoint,” Johnson said.

The biggest challenge Johnson foresees is just getting used to a new location.

“Every community is different and just takes time to get know people in the community, its economy and how it works,” he said.

The change in leadership hasn’t presented any challenges, said Patty Kroese, assistant vice president.

“The transition has been going wonderful,” Kroese said. “He’s very good with the customers.”

Even though the staff will miss Corey, they are handling the change easily, she said.

“She was a very good president,” Kroese said. “Everything’s going along smoothly.”

Johson said he is excited to be in Northwest Colorado.

“I like the Western Slope. I enjoy the outdoors, hunting, fishing and skiing,” he said. “It was a location that intrigued me because all of those options are fairly close.”
