I spent this past week catching up on odds and ends that needed to be done. It seems that as the seasons show signs of changing, it becomes more urgent to get things done, so I can settle into the fall and winter seasons.

One of the things my daughter, Jane, and I enjoy doing during cold weather is making puzzles, and in my cleaning, I came across some. My favorite subject for anything is cats, and there was a puzzle that happened to have a bunch of kittens on it. Not waiting for cold weather, we broke out the card table and are in the “puzzle mode” already.

The highlight event for Sunset Meadows this week was the “Nifty 90s” celebration. Each year there is a celebration to honor those residents of both buildings who have reached or passed the grand age of 90. This year there were eight honorees, and the theme was the 1920s. Although it was a bit too crowded for dancing, the dinner and music were delightful.

School is already starting for some in other areas, and football practice is in full swing for the Bulldogs as are the other fall sports. The start of school, football games on television and cooler nights are all indications that fall is on its way. Although I no longer have a car, this season used to be the time we would take the car in for a check-up and make sure the tires would make it another winter. No sense in waiting until the snow is on the ground and service stations are backed up with service orders.

I won’t wait around to wish Francis Wright and Donna Morris a happy birthday and send well wishes to Joanee Duzik ,Vickie Schenke and all those under the weather.

Sunset Meadows I will have its weekly potluck on Friday at noon. Bingo games can be found from 6 to 10 pm on Fridays and 5:45 p.m. every other Saturday at the Elks Lodge and 1 p.m. Sundays at the VFW Post on Victory Way. The Museum of Northwest Colorado is now showing a great display on 100 years of rails and the Moffat road along with its regular fascinating displays of local and state items.

Have a great week  and let me know if you have any news or events you want to share. My number is 970-824-2139.
