Major makeover for CraigDailyPress.com launched Thursday

The Craig Daily Press launched its new website Thursday, giving the community a new look that emphasizes readability and ease of navigation for users.

CraigDailyPress.com’s redesign gives the community an opportunity to easily access high quality stories on every page, said Managing Editor Noelle Leavitt Riley.

“We believe all the changes made will be a huge benefit to our readers,” she said. “We’re thrilled to have a new look and feel to our site.”

The most noticeable difference is CraigDailyPress.com’s homepage. A story slider is featured as the homepage’s dominant design element. The slider gives readers the option of cycling through several stories, represented on the homepage with photos and accompanying headlines.

The remainder of the homepage has been designed to display as much editorial content as possible. Story headlines and teases flow down the left-hand side of the page, with categorized content including videos, photo galleries, columns, editorials, letters to the editor and the events calendar occupying the right-hand side of the homepage.

A Facebook widget, reader poll and popular stories widget remain in place on the redesigned CraigDailyPress.com. Improved sharing options means it’s easier than ever for readers to share stories and photos with friends and family via email or popular social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

Readers also will notice improved online photo galleries, and the website’s popular reader comments forum also has been upgraded. Readers with free CraigDailyPress.com user accounts can now give a “thumbs up” to other comments, and they can reply to existing reader comments in a new threaded format.

Additionally, CraigDailyPress.com no longer will allow anonymous comments. Each user must use their full name before commenting on stories.

“This is an exciting time for our newspaper as we continue to grow with digital media. I encourage the community to take full advantage of what our new site offers,” Leavitt Riley said.
