— The city of Craig, in partnership with the National League of Cities, is launching its spring campaign offering a water line warranty protection program for local homeowners.

The optional program, administered by Service Line Warranties of America, provides residents with the opportunity to purchase $4,000 in water line repair coverage for $4 per month.

The warranty also features an additional $500 allowance to cover public sidewalk cutting, if required for a repair, at no extra cost.

Mobile, modular and trailer homes are not included.

“Many citizens are unaware that they are responsible for the water lines that go from their houses to the point of utility maintenance,” Mayor Terry Carwile said in a news release. “If these lines break or leak, repairs can be very expensive.”

In the fall, a similar warranty program for sewer line protection was introduced. Residents also can purchase $4,000 in sewer line protection for $6 per month. An additional allowance of $4,000 for street cutting, if needed, also is included in the sewer line protection program.
