— For the second day in a row, the Bulldogs girls soccer team didn’t allow a goal and took the win.

On Friday, it was Rifle High School who fell to Moffat County, which now is sporting a winning record at 4-3 for the first time this season. After a 2-0 first half, the Bulldogs poured it on in the second to win, 7-0.

Allie Ehlers scored two more goals for Moffat County and added three assists. Jazmine Swindler also had two goals, and Brenna Ciesco, Brittany Walker and Tori Snyder each had one more.

Head coach Harry Tripp said he was expecting to beat the Bears, who have struggled this season and fell to 0-8 with Friday’s loss. But after a 2-0 first half, he challenged his players to do better.

“We were doing everything right in the first half but not finishing our shots,” Tripp said. “I set a goal for them to go for 6-0 by the end of the game. I think they settled down and started getting good, clean shots.”

Moffat County had 52 shots in the game, controlled the ball throughout and recorded its fourth straight shutout.

The Bulldogs return to Craig on Saturday for their third game in three days. They will face Coal Ridge High School at Woodbury Sports Complex. Coal Ridge beat Moffat County, 4-0, in the first game of the season, but Tripp thinks Moffat has a different team now.

“It’s going to be a huge game,” he said. “I told the players to relax tonight, get some rest and come out tomorrow to beat Coal Ridge. They are pumped. I think we’re ready for them.”
