Gymfinity Gymnastics will have its grand reopening from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at their location inside the Centennial Mall.
After rescuing the gym from being closed, Cammy Winder has taken over running the gym, and along with Britany Nielson will teach classes targeted at 3-10-year-olds.
“This is all new to me,” Winder said. “I have two little kids, that’s what lit the fire for me, they needed something to do, so mommy had to step up to the plate.”
Winder says her classes aren’t for really experienced kids. Instead, she said it will mostly be a lot of strength training, conditioning and building the muscles kids will need in a fun way.
“I’d like to get them when they’re little and have fun doing it,” Winder said.
Offering nine classes, the open house is a great time for parents and kids to visit and see changes to the gym, including new paint, and sign kids up for classes.
After kids sign up they can put their handprint and name on the wall to feel like they belong to the gym Winder said.
Classes are paid for monthly but cost $10 a class; the monthly cost will depend on how many classes take place that month.
With only three kids actively coming before she took over, Winder said the program took a nosedive.
“The owners came to me and said they were just going to shut it down,” Winder said. “I thought, ‘that can’t happen.’ It’s one more thing for kids to do in Craig.”
Winder and Nielson have high hopes for the gym.
“With Britany’s background in teaching and my enthusiasm we can do this,” Winder said. “We hope it’s going to be a really great program.”

Question of the week
News this week showed snowpack in the Yampa River basin has reached 94 percent of median for the date. Do you think Moffat County is out of the woods as far as drought concerns?
