New faces in the building

The high school had several new members join the staff this school year. Some are new in town. Some are returning to old grounds. Here are the new members of the staff and a little background about each of them.

Levi Collins is one of the new science teachers. He is originally from Lovell, Wyoming. He has family in Wyoming but isn’t married and doesn’t have kids. He chose to be a science teacher because he feels it encourages his appetite for learning. It allows reality to be stranger than fiction. In school, his worst subject was history because he found it uninteresting. Outside of school, he enjoys being outdoors because he appreciates open spaces.

Andrea Peroutka is the new art teacher at the high school as well as Sandrock Elementary. She finds art interesting because she believes everyone has the ability to do it, put a bit of themselves into it, and show who they are. She is originally from Eagle River, Alaska and went to college in Montana. Some of her interests are snowboarding, painting, and hiking. She moved here because she really enjoys the outdoors and hiking. Her favorite memory as a child was when she went hiking up Baldie mountain and had a bird hang out with her.

Stephanie Jeffcoat is the new Guidance Secretary for the high school. She was born and raised in Craig. She has three sons and is married. She enjoys camping and reading.

Her favorite author is James Patterson. She also enjoys being a cow rancher. Jeffcoat chose to be the Guidance Secretary because it sounded interesting and she likes kids. She feels she learns something new every day. Jeffcoat has found a new respect for high school faculty and students. She is proud to be a Moffat County High School graduate and to work here.

Evan Gaffney is another new science teacher. He is originally from Hayden and went to school in Steamboat. Science is interesting to him because it allows students to learn more about what they already know. Gaffney enjoys classic cars, biking and video games. He also enjoys camping because it is something his family has always done. He has been going camping a lot lately. His favorite memory as a child was going to Havasu Canyon, Arizona because it was a beautiful nine mile hike.

Tiffany Taylor is a new special education teacher. She is originally from Texas but was raised in Craig. Special ed. is interesting to her because her mom was a special ed. teacher and she liked to go visit with her mom at school after she got off work. She fell in love with the job. Taylor enjoys watching Netflix, going to Dinosaur Park, boating at Flaming Gorge, and fishing. She also enjoys football. Her favorite memory as a child was horseback riding at Southback Fair Grounds because she loves horses and it seemed like a big deal to do it alone.

Lindsey Kaufman is the new Language Arts teacher. She was born and raised in Northern Indiana. She enjoys hanging out with her Bernese/Australian Shepherd mix puppy, Bukowski. A favorite memory is going to Cedar Pointe every summer as a child with her older brothers. She chose to be an English teacher because she loves being in school, reading, writing, and kids. She finds English interesting because it translates to life, teaches proper speaking as well as how to analyze situations in and out of school.
