Holiday Craft Show puts shoppers in Christmas spirit

It felt closer to Christmas than Thanksgiving inside Centennial Mall on Saturday during the Holiday Craft Show.

Filled with crafters booths and an array of creative gifts, attendees meandered from table to table as the snow fell outside.

From jewelry, furniture, food, candles and clothing, to marshmallow shooter guns and tomboy tools, there was plenty to choose from.

Norma Henderson was there with her fold-and-go play stations, which were selling like hotcakes.

She started with 21 and quickly sold 18 of them. Each play station features a different theme for children to play with and is easy to set up and use in the car.

“I started making them for my grandkids because they traveled a lot. They can put them on their laps and play in the car,” Henderson said. “No two play stations are alike.”

Henderson has been making the play stations for about 12 years. She said the ideas for new themes just come to her.

The Holiday Craft Show offered a chance for locals to share their hobbies and skills with one another.

On the other side of the mall, Dick Butler sat with his carved bird feeders and pens.

“They’re smile makers,” Butler said of his bird feeders, each featuring a face.

His pens clicked to write like a bolt on a rifle.

On down the line was Betty Watson from Grand Junction. She was selling Christmas characters all created from her own patterns.

Watson, 81, said she’s been creating her cutouts for over 30 years.

“It just keeps me active and busy,” Watson said.
