Moffat County’s 2012 Relay for Life will take place July 20 and 21 at Moffat County High School.

The annual event is designed to celebrate cancer survivors, honor those who have lost their lives to cancer, and raise money and awareness for the ongoing fight against cancer.

Committee positions are still available and registration is still open for teams and sponsors.

Foreclosure prevention workshop Thursday

A foreclosure prevention workshop will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Moffat County Courthouse conference room, 221 W. Victory Way.

The event is free and open to the public.

Participants can talk to a housing counselor approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and learn about foreclosure prevention options.

Master crafters sought

The Wyman Museum Master Crafters are looking for more members. Interested crafters would have to work about four hours a week and display their crafts for sale.

Sand Wash basin cleanup takes place June 15, 16

The Sand Wash Basin Wild Horse Club will host its first cleanup day at noon June 15 and 16 at Sand Wash Basin’s main entrance at the intersection of Colorado Highway 318 and Moffat County Road 67.

Volunteers are welcome to camp the night of June 15.

Grand Futures hosts scavenger hunt

Grand Futures Prevention Coalition will host its first 5K scavenger hunt June 9 in Steamboat Springs.

Check-in and registration starts at 8 a.m. at Steamboat Springs High School, 45 E. Maple St., and the race begins at 9 a.m.

The event includes stations with games and activities.

Entrants must have teams of four people to participate. Registration for a team costs $100, and registration for a family — which includes at least one adult and at least one child younger than 16 — costs $75.

Proceeds support Grand Futures substance abuse education and prevention activities for children and teens in Moffat, Routt and Grand counties.
