Newspapers launch new hunting website
The Craig Daily Press and Steamboat Pilot & Today have launched of www.cohunter.com, a website designed to be the home of Colorado Hunter, a magazine produced annually by the newspapers.
Daily Press Publisher Bryce Jacobson said the new site provides a wider reach for information delivered in the magazine.
“We’ve been producing the print edition of Colorado Hunter for a while now and the content is just excellent.” he said. “But that content generally has only been available to people in Northwest Colorado. This site allows us to bring stories and information from the magazine to a world wide audience, and that’s very exciting.”
The website will provide readers with magazine content, news from Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the Bureau of Land Management, and other agencies that impact hunting in the state, and also has a platform for readers to submit personal hunting stories and pictures.
The site also provides a link to an e-edition of 2011's Colorado Hunter.
The 2012 edition will be released later this year.
“CoHunter.com will make it a lot easier for our readers to find the latest news about hunting in Northwest Colorado, including things like weather and available accommodations” Jacobson said. “It also will be very beneficial for our advertisers. When an ad appears at CoHunter.com, the advertiser will know that it is being viewed by their targeted audience.”
Aside from the interactive features, Jacobson said the most exciting part about the new site is the service it allows the newspapers to provide both for local hunters as well as those who travel to hunt in Northwest Colorado, which is known as one of the world’s premier hunting destinations.
“The hunting community is a very important part of Northwest Colorado and we’re thrilled to be able to provide those hunters with the information that is valuable to them,” said Jacobson, who also encourages readers to link to cohunter.com from their personal websites.
“The beauty of the Internet is that it allows people in a rural area like this to reach people all over the planet,” he said. “With this new website, we hope to take advantage of that.”
